The Broadland & Coastal Cruising Club (B&CCC) was started by two amateur radio friends, who were both boat owners.
They were also joined by another friend who was going to restore an Amphicar.
The early meetings were held at The Acle Bridge Inn. During the first year seven cruises were undertaken, including a sea trip.
At the first A.G.M. held at the Surlingham Ferry House, 28 members attended out of a total of 34.
The first rules were limiting the membership to 35 boats, but this was much later amended to 18 so as to maintain a friendly membership and ease mooring difficulties.
Various venues have been used for the monthly winter evening meetings. But changed due to lack of room or change of ownership. Over the years we have had many interesting speakers covering a range of subjects. It did mean members could keep in touch over the winter months. As we still do today.
